Over 684,000 metric tons of goods imported and exported in one month, spokesman

KABUL: The Ministry of Public Works has reported that 684,102 metric tons of goods were imported and exported via rail in Afghanistan over the past month.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, said in a statement today that the volume of goods was transferred from the beginning to the end of the month of Qaus through the ports of “Hairatan, Aqina, Torghundi, and Khaf-Herat.”

The report noted that: 489,642 tons were transferred through Hairatan, 50,752 tons through Aqina, 74,874 tons through Torghundi, and 68,834 metric tons via the Khaf-Herat railway.

The spokesperson added that the transferred goods included both oil and non-oil commodities.

He emphasized that out of the total transfers, 1,581 tons consisted of Afghanistan’s exports, including “dried fruits, mineral stones, and pomegranate juice.”

These developments come as efforts by the Afghan government, particularly the Ministry of Public Works, continue to focus on expanding the railway infrastructure in Afghanistan.
