KABUL: Following the ongoing auction ceremony for the sale of emeralds from Panjshir province, 3,544 carats of emeralds were sold for a total of 3,644,000 Afghanis, the media office of the Panjshir governor reported today.
According to the statement, the transparent auction process has attracted traders from various countries, including a Chinese investor who attended the recent bidding event.
The Chinese investor stated that the emerald market in Panjshir is the “most transparent and trustworthy” market globally.
Meanwhile, Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim, the governor of Panjshir, noted that the global reputation of Panjshir emeralds is the result of efforts made over the past four years.
The Panjahir local officials confirm that the sale of these emeralds not only generates economic income but also creates job opportunities and enhances the global prestige of this valuable product.
According to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, currently over 10,000 workers are engaged in emerald mining in Panjshir province.
