KABUL: The country’s Minister of Economy Qari Din Mohammad Hanif said that despite multiple challenges in 2025, including the return of migrants, climate change, and global economic sanctions, the ministry has continued to implement economic and development programs.
Speaking on Tuesday at a “key meeting on development programs” organized by the Ministry of Economy, Hanif said efforts have been made to strengthen the economy, boost domestic production, encourage investment, support the private sector, and maintain stability in financial services, according to Radio Omid.
He added that the ministry has adopted a transparent and effective policy for humanitarian assistance, noting that 1.9 billion Afghanis in international aid was spent across various sectors over the past year.
He called on UN agencies and international organizations to prioritize agriculture, livestock, health, education, telecommunications, transport, industry, and national and international economic relations in their 2026 development strategies.
The economy minister also stressed that humanitarian aid aimed at improving livelihoods and economic progress for Afghans should not be politicized.
Efforts are underway across the country to support economic activity, domestic production, and investment amid ongoing economic pressures.
