Nine people lost their lives in natural disasters over 24 hours

KABUL: At least nine people have been martyred, 13 were injured, and one remains missing in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours due to natural disasters, officials said.

Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority, said the incidents were caused by heavy rainfall, flooding, landslides, earthquakes, and collapsing homes.

He added that 80 houses were completely destroyed and 626 partially damaged, also six kilometers of roads, around 1,700 jeribs of agricultural land have been destroyed, and nearly 30 livestock perished in Kabul, Ghazni, Balkh, Nangarhar, and Badakhshan provinces.

Hamad said that since March 25, a total of 157 people have been martyred, 229 injured, and nine remain missing nationwide due to a wave of severe weather and related disasters.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid riverbanks and flooding areas during heavy rains and to follow official weather warnings.
