KABUL: Afghanistan’s state-owned oil and gas company has deployed 10 new fuel storage units with a combined capacity of 840 tons at the Rozanak Port in western Afghanistan.
In a statement released Friday night, the company said the move is aimed at strengthening the country’s energy sector, improving management of imported petroleum products, and expanding strategic reserves.
Officials noted that the new storage facilities will help reduce additional costs, prevent potential losses, and accelerate the unloading of rail wagons, allowing for more efficient use of railway lines.
The company added that the reserves will also provide a buffer during transport disruptions, ensuring a steady supply of fuel to domestic markets.
According to the plan, the total storage capacity at Rozanak Port is expected to increase to 5,000 tons in the future.
Afghanistan currently imports part of its oil and gas needs from Russia and Iran, alongside other sources.
