KABUL: Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Cairo as part of a rare visit to the Middle East.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), officials from China and Egypt are expected to discuss bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation, and regional developments during the visit.
China is a major economic partner of Iran and also maintains close political and economic relations with Egypt.
The visit comes as China has in recent years sought to expand economic and diplomatic cooperation with countries across the Middle East.
