Washington warns Iran may target U.S. citizens and American-linked sites

KABUL: The U.S. Department of State has urged American citizens in the Middle East to remain alert and closely monitor the security situation amid escalating tensions in the region.

The department warned that ongoing clashes could lead to flight cancellations or delays and the closure of airspace in some countries. It advised U.S. citizens to monitor the latest travel advisories and updates.

Washington also warned that Iran and groups aligned with it could target U.S. interests, American citizens, and locations and businesses linked to Americans outside the United States.

The warning comes as military clashes between the United States and Iran have resumed following a period of ceasefire.
