KABUL: Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has described remarks by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about counterterrorism on the anniversary of the September 11 attacks as “full of contradictions.”
Baghaei wrote on X on Saturday, that none of the perpetrators of the September 11 attacks were Iranian and claimed that they had been trained and supported by the United States.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson also accused the United States of aggression, carrying out terrorist attacks and causing civilian casualties.
