KABUL: The Ministry of Defense says security and defense forces have carried out an operation to suppress armed groups in Kamdesh district of Nuristan province.
In a statement, the ministry claimed that several groups affiliated with Daesh (Kharijites) and what it described as “evil and corrupt elements,” with the support of Pakistani militias, had entered Afghanistan from across the Durand Line.
According to the ministry, 28 people were killed and 32 others arrested during the operation, while some of the remaining fighters fled back across the Durand Line.
The ministry also claimed that most of those involved were former Afghan government security personnel who had been transferred to Pakistan, received military training and later sent to Nuristan to create insecurity.
It further alleged that Pakistan is seeking to destabilize Afghanistan by supporting armed groups.
The Ministry of Defense called on young people and former military personnel not to be deceived by armed groups or Pakistani intelligence services and to refrain from cooperating with them.
