KABUL: Afghanistan’s Central bank and the international Afghan Credit Guarantee Fund (ACGF) have signed a cooperation agreement.
The central bank said in a statement that under the agreement, about $1 million in grants will be allocated to five banks and one microfinance institution to support financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
The two sides will also cooperate on expanding Islamic financial services, strengthening the financial sector, providing training and capacity-building for financial institutions, and improving businesses’ access to financial resources.
The agreement also includes provisions to facilitate the establishment and financing of small businesses for returning Afghan migrants.
