77 U.S. lawmakers ask for answers over deadly attacks on civilians in Iran

KABUL: Three Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives, backed by 74 other members of Congress, have called on U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to provide explanations regarding three deadly attacks on civilians in Iran.

In a letter to Hegseth, the lawmakers also called for the release of military investigation findings and a review of measures taken by the U.S. military to protect civilians.

Jason Crow, a Colorado representative and member of the House Armed Services Committee, issued the letter on Tuesday, alongside Arizona Representative Yassamin Ansari and California Representative Sara Jacobs.

The letter was supported by 74 other lawmakers.

Crow, a former U.S. Army Ranger and paratrooper, is also a member of the Congressional Caucus for Civilian Protection in Armed Conflict.

During the military conflict between the United States and Israel and Iran, deadly attacks on civilian areas have been reported, including strikes on a girls’ school in Minab and a sports hall in Lamerd.

The reported attacks have drawn reactions and raised concerns over the protection of civilians during military operations.
