Flash floods claimed the lives of nearly 300 people in 14 provinces, Saiq

KABUL: The spokesman of State Ministry for Disaster Management Mullah Janan Saiq, in a press conference, said today that 294 people have lost their lives and 266 others were wounded as a result of flash floods in various provinces, in the past ten days.
According to him, as a result of heavy rainfalls and flash floods these people have died in Baghlan, Ghor, Takhar, Faryab, Badakhshan, Samangan, Sar-e-Pul, Herat, Badghis, Laghman, Bamyan, Farah, Nuristan and Kapisa provinces.
He further added that in the floods 14,923 residential houses were partially or completely destroyed and 6,665 livestock perished.
So far, more than 17,000 affected families have received the necessary assistance.
Meanwhile, deadly and destructive flash floods inflected heavy losses to the people in Baghlan and Ghor provinces.
