Efforts underway to release Afghan prisoners from Oman jails

KABUL: During stay in Oman, Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, held separate meetings with the Minister of the Sultan’s Office, leader of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs.

According to a statement from the ministry, Minister Muttaqi, during his meeting with the Minister of the Sultan’s office, asked him for the release of Afghan prisoners.

The minister assured of facilitating amnesty for Afghan prisoners in Oman during upcoming special occasions.

Also, in a meeting with the leader of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, an agreement was reached to establish organized relations between the trade ministries and private sectors of both countries.

Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi also discussed sharing experiences related to mosques, pilgrims, and Awqaf between the two countries with the Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs of Oman.

He invited the minister to collaborate on the reconstruction of mosques in Afghanistan.

It is noteworthy that during this visit, Muttaqi, in meeting with officials of that country, also discussed addressing consular issues faced by Afghans residing in Oman.
