KABUL: The country’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has said that 389 Afghan refugees, including women and children, were released from prisons in Pakistan after serving varying periods of detention and returned to Afghanistan this week.
The ministry said 329 of the returnees entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing, while 60 returned via Spin Boldak.
According to the ministry statement, the returnees were registered and received assistance before being transported to their areas of origin.
The ministry said the release and return of Afghan refugees from Pakistani prisons provides them with an opportunity to begin a new life, adding that necessary assistance will be provided to support their resettlement.
