OMID Radio begins broadcasting in Helmand

For the first time, OMID Radio started broadcasting in the country’s western province Helmand, which was warmly welcomed by the residents and officials of the province.

OMID is committed to covering all the country and it started broadcasting on 103.7 FM in Helmand province.

Provincial officials of Helmand’s Information and Culture Department also consider the broadcast of OMID Radio as a good step and assured cooperation with media workers and journalists.

A number of Lashkargah’s residents said: “We can develop our information through radio”.

According to them, since the time Radio OMID started broadcasting in Helmand, they have listened to it and do not forget to listen to the programs that society and people need in their daily lives.

Abdul Wali Omari told: “I am very happy that another radio station has been established in Helmand, which is Radio Omid, which broadcasts on 103.7 FM.  If you have heard the broadcast, then the radio’s broadcast is really the voice of the hearts of the people of Helmand”.

 “Your radio broadcasts various literary, educational, health programs and programs that the people of Helmand need,” he said.

Abdul Waris Zeib tells Radio OMID: “I am very happy that Radio Omid has started its activities in Helmand because you know that the media is considered one of the basic communication tools in a short time between people in the current situation.  Radio Omid broadcasts healthy connections, information and concepts on 103.7 FM, OMID fulfills the hopes of Afghans.

A number of Helmand journalists consider the broadcasting of Radio Omid as a good step and ask the local authorities to support the media.

According to them, the media can play an important role in the development of society and expressed hope that Omid Radio will take a constructive part in this field.

 “The start of OMID Radio broadcasting in Helmand is a positive step in the field of media, and strengthening of the media here and the increase of the media and the provision of information to the people,” they said, adding that media has an important role in the development of society.

Also, the Provincial Director of the Information and Culture of Helmand Mawlavi Sher Mohammad Wahdat, welcomes the start of OMID Radio broadcasts in the province and said that audio-visual media is an excellent means of conveying messages to the people.

He also assured of supporting the media and journalists and addressing their problems.

“A new media outlet called Omid has started operations in Helmand province. Insha Allah, it will broadcast to the people of Helmand in accordance with Islamic and national values, the demands of the people, and the principles of journalism. The Department of Information and Culture is the supporting department for the media outlets. We assure full cooperation with Omid in light of the principles of the Islamic Emirate,” he said.

Wahidullah Wahdat, head of the Helmand Independent Journalists’ Association, also expressed his happiness about the start of OMID Radio’s broadcasting and called it good news for the people of Helmand.

“The OMID broadcast is good news for the media community and the people of Helmand because any additional media outlet here means that the existing problems of the people of the province will be addressed on time. By media, their problems will be inquired and their problems will be brought to the attention of the responsible authorities, the people of the province are very happy about the broadcasting of Radio Omid and they will get a lot from this radio, they will hear a lot, and they will learn a lot from it,” he said. 

It is worth noting that, apart from Kabul, OMID Radio has wide broadcasting coverage at the country level, and expanding broadcast to all provinces is continuing.

OMID Radio broadcasts various programs including Islamic, News, Political, Social and Cultural programs countrywide in national languages, on 103.7 FM, and has a total of 15 million listeners.

After Helmand, OMID Radio begins its broadcast in Nimroz, Farah, Zabul, Uruzgan, and Ghor provinces with FM 103.7 waves.
