KABUL: The Deputy Minister of Public Works, Mawlavi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, participated in the 81st session of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Rail Transport Council in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
In the council fostering international cooperation in Afghanistan’s rail sector and promoting fundamental advancements in rail infrastructure and technology have been discussed, said the statement.
According to the statement, Sahibzada also held separate meetings with railway officials from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, focusing on implementing joint railway projects and increasing the volume of trade and goods transit through expanded rail networks in the region. It has been said that Afghanistan has recently gained membership of the Rail Transport Council.
