KABUL: The Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement on Sunday that construction work on several development projects valued at over 29 million Afghanis has been started in Kandahar province.
The projects included the construction of an irrigation canal, a retaining wall, two large water control gates, and eight culverts, and will be implemented in the Maiwand district of Kandahar.
The canal with a length of 7 kilometers and the retaining wall with a length of 63 meters will be completed within 8 months.
The funding for the development projects has been provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
