KABUL: The Ministry of Information and Culture said in a statement today that 60 historical gold coins from the Ghurid period have been discovered in Ghor province.
According to the statement, these coins, some of which are damaged, were found inside a pot during road construction in the Allahyar district of Ghor.
Mawlavi Abdul Hai Zaim, the head of the Information and Culture Department of Ghor, stated that the value of these coins is still unknown, but they date back to the Ghurid era.
The statement noted that the discovered historical gold coins have been officially handed over to the museum of the Information and Culture Department of Ghor by the relevant authorities.
The Ghurid dynasty is considered one of the most important historical periods in Afghanistan, spanning from the 8th century to the 13th century.
