KABUL: The foundation stone of a Sports Complex worth $4 million has been laid in the presence of Mawlavi Ahmadullah Wasiq, the General Director of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports, in the center of Khost province.
Atal Meshwani, spokesperson for the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports, announced on Friday evening that the complex will be built on an area of 10 jeribs and will include standard stadiums for football, volleyball, and tennis, as well as a fitness club, gymnasium, and school.
This sports complex is being constructed with the investment of the Najib Talash Charity Foundation.
The statement noted that preliminary work on the complex is expected to be completed within the next 14 months.
Mawlavi Ahmadullah Wasiq praised the initiative by the charity foundation, considering the construction of the complex a significant achievement for the youth of Khost and Afghan athletes.
He stated that with the completion of this complex, Khost province could host various national sports competitions.
