Shafqat Ali Khan: Pakistan will not rush to recognize Taliban

ISLAMABAD: Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a press conference that Pakistan is not in a hurry to recognize the Taliban government.
He emphasized that the decision will be based on Pakistan’s national interests.
The remarks come just two days after Russia became the first country to officially recognize the Taliban government.
The recognition sparked both positive and negative reactions.
Following Russia’s announcement, the Taliban expressed hope that other countries would demonstrate their sincerity in the recognition process.
Suhail Shaheen mentioned that several other nations may soon recognize the Taliban.
China welcomed Russia’s move, with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that China supports increased interaction between Afghanistan and the international community.
