Sports Festival held in Kabul to commemorate August 24

KABUL: The General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports organized a sports festival on August 15, marking the fourth anniversary of the Islamic Emirate’s return to power in Afghanistan.

According to a statement from the directorate, on Friday evening, athletes from various sports participated in the festival, which included a parade and sports demonstrations celebrating the date.

The ceremony began with a tribute to the athletes, followed by impressive displays in gymnastics, parkour, wushu, and fencing, which received a warm reception from attendees, including sports officials and leaders of the Islamic Emirate.

Mawlavi Ahmadullah Wasiq, the director of the General Directorate, congratulated the sports community and the people of Afghanistan on this occasion and praised the overall security in the country.

He referred to the performances as a “symbol of solidarity and national enthusiasm.”

Following the event, athletes took the festive atmosphere to the streets of Kabul, generating excitement and joy.

It is noteworthy that the anniversary was celebrated across the country, highlighting the significance of the day.
