Moscow: Afghanistan holds strategic importance for U.S. and China as well

KABUL: Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs in Russia, has described the healthy competition between Russia and the United States regarding Afghanistan as beneficial for all parties involved.

Speaking at a meeting of negotiators from the U.S. and Russia in Saudi Arabia, Karasin emphasized that Afghanistan is of particular importance not only to Russia but also to the U.S. and China.

This came after the Minister of National Defense of the Islamic Emirate, Mawlavi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, urged powerful nations during the celebrations of Afghanistan’s 106th Independence Day to focus on building dams, roads, and factories instead of engaging in conflict and unhealthy competition.

Karasin remarked that all countries are eager to expand their relations with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, stating that this would benefit both Afghanistan and other nations. He noted that economic ties between Russia and the Islamic Emirate are actively developing, and Moscow intends to continue its relations with Kabul.
