Unregistered vehicles banned in Kabul

KABUL: The Ministry of Interior Affairs said in a statement today that the excursion of unregistered vehicles is now prohibited in the capital city of Kabul.
“Only vehicles registered with the Kabul Traffic Police can enter the city to receive temporary license plates,” said the statement, urging owners of right-hand (Pakistani hand) vehicles that were previously registered in Kabul and other provinces to obtain their temporary plates from the Kabul Traffic Police as soon as possible.
Drivers with unregistered vehicles have been advised to leave Kabul promptly and register their vehicles in their respective provinces.
According to the statement, right-hand vehicles registered in any province will only be allowed to circulate in that province.
The statement emphasized that further restrictions on right-hand drive vehicles may be implemented, as these vehicles are often involved in traffic accidents. Citizens have been advised to refrain from purchasing them.
The Ministry of Interior warned that legal action will be taken against violators of these regulations.
This comes in response to several tragic traffic incidents, particularly on the Kabul-Herat highway.
