Violent protests leave 3 dead, 4 injured in Indonesia

KABUL: A fire at a local council building in eastern Indonesia, sparked by angry protesters, has resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left four others injured.
According to a report by the Agence France-Presse today, the nationwide protests in Indonesia began after a video surfaced showing the death of a man who was struck by a police vehicle, igniting public outrage.
The victim, a motorcyclist, was killed during protests demanding higher wages and better financial benefits for parliament members.
The video of the incident has circulated widely on social media, leading to widespread demonstrations across Indonesia, including in the capital city, Jakarta.
In Makassar, the largest city in eastern Indonesia, protests escalated into violence, with demonstrators setting fire to a local council building.
Protesters reportedly threw homemade incendiary devices (Molotov cocktails) into the building, igniting the flames.
Indonesia is recognized as the largest economy among Southeast Asian countries.
