Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar assessed reconstruction process of Salang Highway

KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, has assessed the ongoing reconstruction of the Salang Highway, according to a statement from his office today.

During the visit, he praised the efforts of the Ministry of Public Works and the contracting company, emphasizing the importance of quality in the reconstruction work and the need to complete it before the arrival of winter.

According to the statement, officials from the Ministry of Public Works and the contracting company assured Baradar that they are committed to advancing the reconstruction in accordance with accepted standards and completing it on time.

The statement noted that overall progress on the Southern Salang work has reached 55%.

In the completed tunnels, high-quality concrete has been laid to a thickness of 85 centimeters.

Meanwhile, reconstruction efforts on Northern Salang are also proceeding rapidly.

It is worth mentioning that the major reconstruction of the Salang Highway began three years ago, initiated by the Ministry of Public Works in three phases, with the final phase expected to be completed in less than three months.
