KABUL: Takayoshi Kurumaya, Japan’s ambassador to Afghanistan, has expressed condolences to the victims of the deadly and devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.
The Japanese embassy said in a statement today, that Japan is closely monitoring the situation in the earthquake-affected areas and is prepared to provide necessary assistance to the victims of this natural disaster.
The statement read: “I am deeply saddened to learn about the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives and express my sympathies to their survivors.
The senior Japanese diplomat expressed hope that search and rescue operations would be carried out swiftly and that the affected individuals would recover soon.
Japan is the first country to respond to the catastrophic earthquake that occurred last night, which has reportedly resulted in hundreds of fatalities and over a thousand injuries.
