KABUL: The United Nations has confirmed that hundreds of people have lost their lives due to a devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, with many others injured.
In a statement released today, the UN’s Afghanistan section said that the UN aid teams are present in the earthquake-affected areas, providing urgent assistance and life-saving support.
The statement expressed deep concern over the catastrophic earthquake that struck the eastern parts of the country, resulting in significant fatalities and injuries.
The UN extended its condolences to the earthquake victims in eastern Afghanistan.
This comes as Radio Omid correspondent cited residents’ reports that 800 people were trapped under the rubble specifically in the earthquake-hit areas of Kunar province.
