UN Secretary-General expresses solidarity with earthquake-affected families in eastern Afghanistan

KABUL: António Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General, has expressed solidarity with the victims of the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.
In a message posted on X today, Guterres offered his deep condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, wishing a swift recovery for those injured in this natural disaster.
He stated: “The UN team in Afghanistan is mobilized and will spare no effort to assist those in need in the affected areas.”
Reactions to the catastrophic earthquake in Kunar and Nangarhar continue, with the Japanese ambassador in Kabul also expressing condolences to the families of the victims and indicating Japan’s readiness to provide assistance.
As of now, the earthquake has claimed over 600 lives and left more than 1,500 injured, especially in Kunar province.
