Rescue operations for earthquake survivors in Kunar: Air Force conducts 155 flights in 2 days

KABUL: The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement today that its air force conducted 155 flights during the first two days following the devastating earthquake in eastern Afghanistan.

On the first day of the incident, 83 flights were conducted, transporting 1,000 individuals, said the statement adding on the second day, 72 flights were carried out, transferring 361 injured individuals and 540 of their companions, along with 10,000 kilograms of supplies.

In addition to these casualties, service personnel were also included in the flights.

The total number of individuals transported by the air force during this operation amounted to 1,901.

This comes as ongoing round-trip evacuations by helicopters from both the Islamic and National army continue in the earthquake-affected areas of Kunar province.

Yesterday, commandos from the Ministry of National Defense were also air-dropped into the earthquake-affected regions that are inaccessible by land.
