Russia refuses to discuss deployment of European forces in Ukraine

KABUL: Russian officials have stated that Moscow is not willing to engage in discussions regarding any deployment of European forces within Ukrainian territory.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks on Thursday in response to recent comments by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, regarding plans to send European troops to Ukraine.

The spokesperson emphasized that Russia does not intend to discuss any form of foreign intervention in Ukraine, describing such actions as fundamentally unacceptable and detrimental to security.

Previously, the German Defense Minister also refuted von der Leyen’s comments made to the Financial Times about discussions concerning a relatively detailed plan for the deployment of multinational European forces to Ukraine, labeling them as ill-timed.
