KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has officially changed the name of the Pentagon (Department of Defense) to “Department of War” through an executive order, Sky News reported this morning.
During the signing ceremony in his office, he told reporters that there had been discussions about renaming the Department of Defense for months, and the decision was finally made.
He stated, “The name ‘Defense’ is too defensive. We want to be defensive, but we also need to be offensive when necessary.” Trump emphasized that the current name of the Pentagon conveys a message of “victory and power.”
Simultaneously with the signing of this executive order, the Pentagon’s website has been renamed to “Department of War.”
Additionally, the office of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been adorned with a sign reading “Department of War.”
This executive order comes at a time when Trump, claiming to have ended seven wars since his return to the White House, is seeking the “Nobel Peace Prize 2026.”
However, political analysts believe that Trump’s actions are not in line with the spirit of peace and the ideals associated with the Nobel Peace Prize.
