KABUL: Leaders of the United States and India have once again addressed the reduction of tensions between the two countries in a series of tweets, assuring the continuation of trade dialogue.
President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed their thoughts on this topic early today on X.
Both leaders emphasized the productive nature of the trade discussions, stating that they will engage in conversation in the coming weeks.
Trump wrote, “I look forward to talking with my very good friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the coming weeks. I am confident that there will be no difficulties in achieving a successful outcome for our two great countries.”
In response, Prime Minister Modi remarked, “India and the United States are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the endless potential of the India-U.S. partnership.”
This is the second time in less than a week that Trump and Modi have commented on improving trade relations and reducing tensions between their countries.
Relations between New Delhi and Washington have soured recently over India’s continued purchase of Russian oil.
Trump had increased trade tariffs on Indian goods by up to 50%, while Modi had suspended military contracts with the U.S.
