KABUL: The Ministry of Interior said in a statement today that police forces from the Nimroz provincial police command have arrested four individuals along with 39 kilograms of opium in two separate operations.
Three individuals were caught while attempting to smuggle 21 kilograms of opium from Bakwa district of Farah province to Helmand province, said the statement, adding that in another operation, one individual was apprehended while trafficking 18 kilograms of opium from the same district to Helmand.
The statement added that in the first operation, a fielder-type vehicle, one Kalashnikov, three magazines, and 42 rounds of ammunition were also confiscated.
According to the statement, the detainees cases have been forwarded to judicial organs for further investigation.
