KABUL: The National Islamic Army of the Islamic Emirate have arrested 24 individuals on charges of illegal logging in the Herat province.
The press office of the 207th Al-Farooq Army Corps said in a statement on Sunday night, that the individuals have been arrested by the members of the 6th Battalion of the 9th Border Brigade in the Ghoriyan district of Herat.
The statement noted that the arrests were made as a result of separate operations conducted in the area.
Additionally, two other individuals were arrested on charges of trafficking opium resin in the same district.
Arrests related to illegal logging continue across various regions of the country.
Last week, the Ministry of Interior also reported the arrest of several individuals for illegal deforestation in the southeastern provinces.
