KABUL: The United Nations Development Fund for Afghanistan has announced that Italy has donated €2 million to support addiction treatment centers in the country.
In a statement shared on X, the fund highlighted that this financial aid will ensure the continued operation of treatment centers offering services to those seeking to overcome addiction in Afghanistan.
The statement noted that this funding will provide Afghan men and women struggling with addiction a new opportunity for livelihood, enabling them to improve their lives.
Meanwhile, the Italian Embassy for Afghanistan also posted on X, reaffirming Italy’s commitment to supporting the health sector in Afghanistan.
The embassy expressed gratitude for the efforts of the UN Development Fund for Afghanistan.
This comes as the Afghan authorities have prioritized treating individuals struggling with addiction alongside their fight against drug trafficking across the country.
