KABUL: The Afghanistan U-17 national football team has departed for Bahrain with a delegation of 14 members.
The General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports announced today, that the U-17 national football team is set to participate in the third round of the 2025 Asian Youth Championships.
In Group A of the tournament, the Afghan team is grouped with the host nation (Bahrain), Uzbekistan, and China.
The Afghan players are scheduled to face the Uzbekistan national team on October 24.
Hafiz Ahmadjan Zadran, Deputy of the General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports, expressed his confidence in the team during their farewell, stating, “I believe in you and am sure you will shine in these competitions and deliver exciting performances.”
The third round of the 2025 Asian Youth Championships will begin on October 22 in Bahrain, featuring 2,000 athletes across various sports from 45 countries.
Afghan athletes will also participate in eight different sports during this tournament.
