KABUL: Local officials in Maidan Wardak Province said that a teenager lost his life due to the explosion of an unexploded shell in the center of the province.
The Directorate of Natural Disaster Management Authority, said in a statement today that the explosion took place in an area known as “Administrative Reforms,” located in the first security district of Maidan Shar, the capital of Maidan Wardak.
The report stated that the explosion occurred when a teenager named Suhail, son of Samiullah, from Nerkh District, found an old unexploded shell, which detonated due to his carelessness.
Mawlavi Faizullah Jalali, the head of the Disaster Management Authority in Maidan Wardak, expressed sorrow over the incident.
Mines and unexploded ordnance are considered a hidden enemy for the people of Afghanistan, particularly for children, and they continue to claim victims from time to time.
