70 arrested for livestock smuggling to Turkmenistan and illegal crossing into Iran

KABUL: The personnel of the 207 Al-Farooq National Army Corps of the Ministry of National Defense, said in a statement today that 70 individuals have been arrested on charges of smuggling livestock to Turkmenistan and illegally crossing the border from Afghanistan into Iran in Herat province.

According to the statement, four individuals attempting to smuggle livestock to Turkmenistan were apprehended by members of the 5th Battalion of the 10th Border Brigade, while 66 others were arrested for trying to illegally cross the Afghanistan-Iran border.

The statement did not specify how many livestock the four individuals intended to smuggle or the exact location of their capture.

Additionally, officials from the 207 Al-Farooq Army Corps noted that nine individuals were arrested by the 2nd Battalion and 57 others by the 3rd Battalion of the 10th Border Brigade while attempting to be transported to Iran by smugglers.

This comes as Islamic and National Army forces closely monitor activities along the borders and the Durand Line.
