With suspension of fish imports from Pakistan, Herati farmers’ markets flourishing

HERAT: Fish farmers in Herat province report that their market has recently become more vibrant and flourishing.

The media office of the Herat governor citing the local fish farmers said that the halt on fish imports from Pakistan has created a favorable environment for the growth of domestic production and provided opportunities for selling local fish.

Fish farmers in Herat have noted that increased demand has also led to a rise in the production capacity of local farms.

According to the statement, officials of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Herat, stated that there are currently 40 to 45 active fish farming operations in the province.

Recently, local authorities in Herat have decided to establish more farms near the Pashdan Dam in the province.
