Iran considers new railway construction connecting China via Afghanistan

KABUL: Jabbar Ali Zakeri, the Executive Director of Iran’s Railways, has announced that a plan for a new strategic railway route connecting Iran with China is included in their work agenda.
He stated that this railway will extend from Herat province to Mazar-i-Sharif and will subsequently connect to China through the Wakhan Corridor.
Iranian officials believe that the establishment of this route will facilitate trade between Iran and China, expedite transit processes, and create new opportunities for regional economic connectivity.
Authorities emphasize that this project could bring significant changes to trade and transportation cooperation in the region.
