KABUL: The European Union has reiterated its commitment to Afghanistan, stating that it confirms its “long-standing and sustainable” support for the Afghan people.
The European Union Delegation for Afghanistan announced in a post on its X on Wednesday that the EU Delegation in Kabul expressed its renewed commitment to Afghanistan in a New Year’s greeting for 2026, wishing for a year filled with peace, happiness, and security for Afghanistan.
The message reads: “We take pride in supporting sectors that are directly connected to people’s daily lives, and we will stand alongside the people of Afghanistan in the coming year.”
The New Year (2026) officially begins today (Thursday), following a year marked by ongoing tensions and challenges inherited from 2025.
It remains to be seen what ups and downs the new year will bring for the world.
