NPC approves 29 projects, worth about 18.5 billion Afghanis

KABUL: In a regular meeting chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the National Procurement Commission has approved 29 projects at an estimated cost of approximately 18.5 billion Afghanis.
According to a statement from the deputy PM’s office, 44 projects were presented for approval in line with the meeting’s agenda, of which 29 were approved, and amendments were made to 14.
Sources indicated that among the approved and amended projects are: daily production capacity enhancement of 5,000 tons at the Jabal al-Siraj cement factory; establishment of a factory to process 500 tons of iron per day at the Hajigak iron mine; construction of a thermal power generation plant with a capacity of 225 megawatts; and the establishment of general hospitals in various districts, including Kamdish in Nuristan, Arghandab in Zabul, Mangjek in Jawzjan, Dandghori in Baghlan, Daman in Kandahar, Shahrak in Ghor, Day Mirdad in Maidan Wardak, Khass Kunar in Kunar, and Alburz in Balkh.
Additionally, the completion of electrical supply and distribution projects in various provinces, as well as the construction of 100-bed hospitals in Panjshir and Daikundi provinces, are also included.
The statement further stated that the Islamic Emirate will fund the approved projects.
