Gaza under heavy strikes despite ceasefire; Over 600 Palestinians martyred

KABUL: Despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, attacks on the Gaza Strip have continued, with the Palestinian Ministry of Health reporting at least 615 Palestinians martyred and 1,651 wounded since the ceasefire.

According to the ministry, airstrikes on October 19 and 29 alone claimed 154 lives, raising questions about the effectiveness and enforcement of the ceasefire, which was brokered under a plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. Early in the ceasefire, a prisoner exchange took place between both sides.

Al Jazeera reports that since the start of the conflict, Israeli air and ground strikes have killed a total of 72,073 Palestinians and injured 171,749, with a majority of casualties being women and children.

The ongoing violence in Gaza has intensified concerns about a deepening humanitarian crisis in the region.
