KABUL: Mulla Faizullah Tamim, Director General of Afghanistan’s Quality and Standards Authority, during his visit to Turkmenistan, met with deputies of the Turkmen Railway Administration and the General Directorate of Customs to emphasize resolving transit issues between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
The Quality Authority’s media office reported today, that Mullah Tamim and his accompanying delegation in separate meetings with Turkmen officials requested an increased number of railway wagons to expedite the transportation of oil and commercial goods to Afghanistan.
The statement noted that Turkmen officials also called for expediting wagon inspections and technical procedures at ports to ensure empty wagons are returned to Turkmenistan on time.
In a meeting with the deputy customs director of Turkmenistan, both sides agreed on enhancing bilateral cooperation, joint efforts, and continued coordination meetings to facilitate trade and customs operations.
Officials of Afghanistan’s Quality Authority described the meetings as a significant step toward strengthening economic relations and resolving technical obstacles at ports.
Earlier, the Afghan delegation had also met with other Turkmen officials to discuss standardizing exported goods from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.
