IEA Leader orders distribution of 3,400 metric tons of wheat across 34 provinces

KABUL: The Afghanistan Natural Disaster Management Authority(ANDMA) of Afghanistan has announced the launch of a nationwide transfer of 3,400 metric tons of wheat to all 34 provinces of the country.
Spokesperson of ANDMA, Yousuf Hamad said Monday that the distribution process has begun following a directive from the leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The wheat will be supplied from reserves held by the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock of Afghanistan in Kabul.
According to him, 100 metric tons of wheat will be transported from Kabul to each of 13 provinces. For the remaining 21 provinces, 100 metric tons per province will be distributed from regional zones across the country.
The transferred wheat will be stored in provincial warehouses under the disaster management authorities and distributed to vulnerable families when needed.
The statement comes as authorities report that in recent weeks wheat and cash assistance have also been distributed to 34,000 returning migrant families across all 34 provinces, with the process still ongoing.
