KABUL: Authorities have declared a state of emergency in Landi Kotal, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following intensified clashes between Afghan forces and Pakistani military troops.
Security officials in Landi Kotal confirmed to media outlets that heightened security measures have been implemented amid escalating fighting in the area.
The reports come as Afghan forces reportedly advanced beyond the Durand Line after destroying Pakistani military installations in Torkham.
Meanwhile, Daily Lead Pakistan reported that Landi Kotal’s main market has been shut down following rocket fire allegedly launched by Afghan forces. According to the report, police said three mortar shells struck the central market on Saturday, prompting the suspension of all commercial activities.
Heavy fighting between Afghan forces and the Pakistani military continues, according to reports.
