200 Afghan prisoners released from Pakistani jails, return home

KABUL: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations says 200 Afghan citizens have been released from prisons in Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said the individuals were freed earlier this week and repatriated through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar Province.

The released Afghans had spent between one and 60 days in Pakistani prisons before their release, said the statement, adding that after returning to Afghanistan, the individuals were registered and provided with necessary assistance before being transported to their home regions.

Last week, the ministry had also announced the release of dozens of Afghan citizens from Pakistani prisons.
