KHOST: The provincial officials of the country’s southern province of Khost said Pakistani forces shelled civilian areas overnight, martyring and wounding four children.
According to a statement released by the provincial media office on Sunday night, heavy weapons including mortars and artillery struck residential houses in the Sperai District, particularly in the area known as Afghan Dubai.
The statement said two children were martyred and two others were wounded in the attack, while several civilian homes were also damaged.
Officials accused Pakistani forces of repeatedly targeting civilian homes and public property in similar attacks in the past.
The incident comes as Afghan forces continue their retaliatory “Radd al-Zulm” operations targeting Pakistani military positions along the Durand Line.
