Afghanistan sees 2.3 million tourists during Eid holidays

KABUL: Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture says around 2.3 million domestic and foreign tourists visited recreational sites and natural attractions across the country during the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
Khabib Ghufran, spokesperson for the ministry, said on Tuesday that the figures indicate a rise in tourist visits compared to previous periods, signaling growth in the country’s tourism sector.
According to the ministry, security measures and cooperation from local communities helped ensure safe travel for visitors during the holidays.
Officials also emphasized the importance of environmental protection, cleanliness of public areas, and preservation of tourist sites.
The ministry said it aims to further expand tourism, strengthen the sector, and provide more facilities for visitors.
Tourists, according to the statement, praised the overall security and hospitality of the Afghan people.
