KABUL: At least 39 people accused of links to groups associated with the United States and Israel have been arrested for allegedly planning to create insecurity in Iran, media reported.
According to Fars News Agency, 29 of those detained were tasked with forming operational cells and creating insecurity in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Authorities said they seized 49 improvised explosive devices, two Kalashnikov rifles, 16 pistols, around 1,500 rounds of ammunition, and seven Starlink internet devices from them.
The report added that 10 other suspects were assigned to carry out activities in Tehran.
Iranian security forces have repeatedly warned they will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt internal stability.
There has been no independent verification of the claims.
